DISCUSSION
Quite a busy month all round with some good interaction by members for site investigations. Names include Brendon Jones, Laura Gilchrist, Dave, Robert Doe, Mark Humpage, Stuart Robinson, and myself. Sorry if I have missed any others! A big thank you to other members such as Paul Brown, Paul Domaille , John Mason and Sam Jowett who have surfed the internet media and other forums to bring us information that would otherwise go astray. This interaction is very much appreciated by TORRO and is invaluable.

TORRO has continued to aid students with their thesis or dissertation projects. Several enquiries and communications have been followed up during the October period. We hope our efforts as an organisation can assist those in need of our acquired knowledge! Likewise we hope they will be encouraged to join our cause and increase public awareness.

Without sounding like a scratched record, I would like to once again reiterate the importance of putting day, date, time and place in the ‘subject title’ when reporting severe weather events. By doing this the thread can build into three or four pages with no doubt as to which tornado you are talking about when you enter into the discussion. Can I just say that the majority are now stating the necessary information, just the few need to pull up their socks a bit! Please!

Credit and appreciation goes out to Paul Knightley and Nigel Bolton our resident meteorologists. Both have busy jobs and their interaction with TORRO’s watch warn system is much appreciated. Well done Paul with this months succession of successful watches. These will go along way toward acquiring credibility for TORRO’s work and advances in this field.

We are currently arranging a professional re vamp of the TORRO web site. A big thankyou to web weaver David Hollingworth for his work so far. The new website looks to become more interactive with members able to upload images directly to the gallery. We are hoping to establish an automated system for subscription also.

Condolences go out to the aggrieved family who recently lost a loved one associated with the Corfe Castle twin tornado event 28th October. TORRO has extenuated its efforts in understanding what and why this tragedy has happened. Direct correspondence between local authority, police and TORRO (namely Robert Doe) continues on behalf of the investigation.

And lastly TORRO staff and members would like to offer condolences to TORRO member Mark Lowe’s family. Mark Lowe sadly lost his fight for life on the 23rd October. He will be sadly missed by all that new him. A special thought for him should be made by those that visit the Great Plains next year in respect for his passion in chasing!
