COMMENTS
TORRO expresses it's thanks to Stuart Robinson for his contribution for a carefully planned investigation into the report of a tornado at Coventry on 24th June. As a result of this event TORRO was publicised in the Coventry Evening Telegraph, with a mention of Stuart carrying out his investigation and an appeal for information by Mark Humpage. TORRO members can read Stuart's report and see footage of the event on the Forum's ' severe weather reports' thread and by clicking on: ' TN Coventry 240605- now confirmed T0'.
June was also the month where Paul Knightly issued a TORRO severe weather forecast through the Press Association on the 23rd; covering how the breakdown of the hot weather that week would affect the UK and giving practical advice on preparing for the storms. There was also an informative update on the work that TORRO and its members carry out. The forecast was mentioned by several media sources and it held its ground with instances of severe weather occurring within the forecasted region.
In this month we all heard how TORRO got a big 'thumbs up' from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Solent region on the 29th, after Tony Gilbert passed Paul Knightly's severe thunderstorm watch for the 28th onto local coastguard stations, assisting crews in making sure seafarers were prepared for the events of the day and preventing anything serious happening as an active squall passed through the area. Both the MRCC and UK Met Office have intimated that TORRO’s interaction under such conditions would be greatly appreciated in the future!
