In The News
The start of 2007 has been an active month for severe weather! Who knows, this may be the way it goes for the rest of the year. It would appear the the UK saw the warmest January for decades and could this have gone someway towards creating some of the events described on the forum this month?
A TN at Farnborough in Hampshire was investigated by Tony Gilbert. Photographs on the thread show damaged roofs and a striking image of a garage without a roof (that was and still is `lost´ following the event). It has been given an initial rating of T2. A separate TN that occurred on the 21st of January at Darvel, Ayrshire was reported with photographs in local press. The newspaper article accessed via the thread shows a wooden shed collapsed and a tree (that I would call big enough) felled by the winds. Both of these TN events were forecast by Paul Knightley in the severe weather watches & advisories thread.

Site Investigation
Members are reminded that that one of the prime functions of TORRO is to acquire and research severe weather. This can only be achieved by the pro-active involvement of its members in this worthwhile activity. It is only by getting out and seeing the damage and recoding the detail in person that we can hope to gain a true understanding of what has occurred.
